engineering

The engineering business unit of Brazil Ports and Industries Engineering aims to develop integrated solutions and projects, feasibility studies, conceptual design, basic design and detailed design. It can also bring specific solutions such as dimensioning of mechanical components, electromechanical sub-assemblies and even assemblies that involve the complete automation of the equipment. The balance between the technical, and the economic/financial part is what is sought to keep our mission alive.

Conceptual Engineering

We are talking about the technical conceptualization phase of the project. It is the beginning of the development and creation phase where we take into account market, technical and economic aspects, evaluating various alternatives and conceptually and theoretically designing the best alternatives, whether for brownfield or greenfield projects. This work also consists in conceptualizing the use of digital solutions in the construction of the project.

Some topics that are part of are:

  • Project characteristics
  • Sizing and preliminary process flow
  • Process definition by production area
  • Preliminary layout definition
  • Identification of technical variables
  • Description of the Artificial Intelligence, Gemeos Digitias, IoT digital platforms for the development of the project
  • Identification of information for estimating investment calculation granting a preliminary ROI calculation

Basic Engineering

Here we define the procurement strategy and its implementation schedule. The creation of a basic mechanical, electrical and automation process is part of basic engineering, defining the technical specification for the purchase or design of the main items of systems and equipment. At this point, we prepare the set of documentation for the beginning of obtaining licenses. At this stage, through technical and commercial valuation, we estimate the amount of project investments.

Detailed Engineering

In this phase, BPIE checks and reaffirms in more detail the definitions and requirements of basic engineering and executes the project defined in the previous stage in a complete and precise manner, guaranteeing quality, cost and programmed time. Through several partnerships and its own technical staff (specialized in mechanics, automation, electrical, instrumentation, etc.), Brazil Ports & Industries, based on the best management quality practices, supports its clients in the execution of complex projects.
